In the high-output world of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) sheet and roll production, the conveyor system is the lifeline of the factory. Whether you are manufacturing luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), flexible transparent soft PVC rolls, or rigid industrial sheets, the interaction between your product and the conveyor belt dictates your final yield.
For procurement managers and production engineers in the plastics industry, a conveyor belt is not just a carrier; it is a surface that must maintain chemical stability under pressure. Selecting a generic belt for PVC processing is a costly mistake that leads to contamination, surface defects, and frequent line stoppages.
1. The Silent Killer: Plasticizer Migration
The most significant challenge in conveying PVC rolls or sheets is Plasticizer Migration. To make PVC flexible, manufacturers add plasticizers (like phthalates). However, these chemicals are "migratory." When a standard rubber or low-grade PVC belt comes into contact with the PVC product, the plasticizers often leach into the belt.
The result?
- Belt Degradation: The conveyor belt becomes brittle, cracks, or swells, losing its tracking and tension.
- Product Contamination: The belt may leave chemical residues or "ghosting" marks on the bottom of the PVC sheet, ruining its commercial value.
ANNILTE’s Solution: We have engineered a range of Plasticizer-Resistant (PR) Belts. Our proprietary surface compounds are chemically inert to common PVC additives, ensuring that the belt remains supple and the product remains pristine throughout years of operation.
2. Surface Integrity: Preventing Scratches and "Clouding"
For premium products like high-gloss PVC sheets or transparent soft curtains, the surface finish is everything. Standard belts with aggressive textures or hard surfaces can cause micro-scratches or "clouding" during the cooling and winding phases.
Felt-Surface Belts (Non-Marking)
At ANNILTE, we recommend our Needled Felt Surface Belts for the most sensitive PVC sheets. The soft felt surface provides:
- Cushioned Transport: Eliminates friction-based scratches.
- Air Permeability: Allows for faster cooling of hot-extruded sheets, preventing moisture buildup under the product.
Super-Smooth TPU/PVC Options
For rigid board production where high grip and zero-marking are required, our super-smooth, matte-finish belts ensure that the sheet moves with absolute stability without sticking to the belt surface.
3. Heat Resistance in the Extrusion Line
PVC sheets emerge from the extrusion die or calender rollers at high temperatures. If the conveyor belt cannot handle this residual heat, it will warp or undergo "thermal shrinkage," leading to registration errors in the cutting phase.
ANNILTE’s specialized belts for the plastics industry are built with heat-stabilized polyester carcasses. These belts can withstand continuous operating temperatures of up to 100°C-120°C without losing their dimensional stability, making them ideal for the initial cooling stages of the production line.
4. Anti-Static Engineering for Safety and Quality
The friction between PVC sheets and conveyor belts generates massive amounts of static electricity, especially during the unwinding or high-speed cutting of rolls.
- Safety Risk: Static sparks can lead to fires in dusty environments.
- Quality Risk: Static attracts dust and debris, which get trapped in the PVC rolls, leading to "pitting" or contamination.
Every ANNILTE PVC industry belt is treated with permanent anti-static agents (meeting ISO 284 standards) to dissipate charge safely, ensuring a clean and safe production environment.
5. Tailored Solutions for the Cutting and Winding Phase
The PVC industry requires diverse belt fabrications. ANNILTE provides integrated solutions including:
- Vacuum Perforations: For high-precision cutting tables where sheets must be held firmly by suction.
- High-Friction Backings: To prevent heavy PVC rolls from sliding during inclined transport to the warehouse.
- Custom Widths: We can fabricate extra-wide belts (up to 3000mm-4000mm) to accommodate the widest industrial sheet extruders.
