What Is a Solid Woven Conveyor Belt?

A Solid Woven Conveyor Belt is a type of conveyor belting where the carcass (the structural core) is constructed from a single, double-layer woven fabric that is fully impregnated with PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) or PVG (Polyvinyl Chloride with additional rubber-like covering).

Unlike traditional multi-ply belts, which are made by stacking multiple separate layers of fabric glued together, a solid woven belt has a monolithic (single-body) construction. This eliminates the risk of ply separation, one of the most common causes of belt failure in demanding industries like logistics, mining, and warehousing.

The Construction Process

To understand the difference, let's break down how it is made:

  • Weaving: Polyester or nylon yarns are woven together to create a single, thick, double-layer fabric structure. This interwoven design acts as a single, unified reinforcement layer.
  • Impregnation: The woven fabric is passed through a bath of liquid PVC. The PVC penetrates deep into the weave, filling every gap between the fibers.
  • Gelation: The belt is heated, causing the PVC to solidify and bond permanently with the fabric. The result is a homogeneous carcass—you cannot peel the layers apart because there are no separate layers.
  • Cover Application (Optional): Depending on the grade (PVC or PVG), an additional wear-resistant top cover may be applied for extra durability.
