Kongsberg XN is a versatile platform—seven table sizes, sheet feeder and roll feeder options, and a conveyor feed that does double duty as the cutting underlay . That flexibility is also why belt sourcing on the XN goes wrong: “XN” alone doesn‘t tell you which belt you need.

Here‘s what to confirm before you order.

XN model size determines what fits

The XN comes in XN20, XN22, XN24, XN40, XN44, XN46, and XN48. The conveyor system‘s maximum material width varies by model:

• XN20, XN22, XN24: max material width with conveyor is 1680 mm (66 in)
• XN40, XN44, XN46: max material width with conveyor is 2210 mm (87 in)
• XN48: no conveyor system option

One aftermarket supplier lists a belt specifically for the XN24 without extension, cut to exact length . If your machine has a conveyor extension—front, rear, or both—the belt length changes. The XN44 with a front extension uses a different table footprint than the standard XN44 . Measure the old belt or confirm your extension configuration before ordering. A belt cut for a no-extension XN24 will not fit an XN24 with a rear extension.

Standard vs high-flow: which one your XN actually needs

Aftermarket XN belts come in two permeability grades, and the choice depends on what you‘re cutting.

Standard/Premium belt: 2.5 mm thick, available in gray or white, designed for higher airflow and cut resistance than a generic felt . This is the right choice for most packaging, sign, and display work on the XN.

High-flow belt: moves roughly 1.5 times the air of the standard belt, spreading vacuum more evenly across the surface . If your XN runs foam, rubber, textiles, or small finished parts that tend to shift under standard vacuum, this is the belt to specify. The trade-off is that high-flow ships gray only—if you cut light-colored materials and need a non-marking white belt, that limits your options .

The XN‘s conveyor also acts as the cutting underlay . That means the belt surface takes direct knife contact. Cut resistance matters as much as airflow, especially on the XN20/22/24 where the narrower table means more concentrated cutting per square meter.

The static problem on XN conveyor belts

Cutting synthetic substrates—corrugated plastic, foam board, certain films—generates static on the belt surface. On a machine with sensor-dependent registration and tool control, that static can cause faults and inconsistent cuts. The gray belts from aftermarket suppliers carry a conductive coating applied as an extra manufacturing step specifically to discharge static . If you‘re cutting anything that builds charge, this is not a cosmetic difference.

What to verify with a supplier

Extension configuration. The belt length is cut to the table‘s exact footprint, including any front or rear conveyor extension. Get this wrong and the belt won‘t fit, and cut-to-length belts are typically non-returnable .

Splice readiness. XN replacement belts are usually shipped pre-cut and ready to seam on the machine, requiring a hot melt glue applicator and seaming tape for installation . Confirm the belt comes with alignment marks or a matched splice, or plan for the seam work.

Airflow spec, not just “breathable.” Ask what permeability range the belt is rated for. A belt that‘s too open loses vacuum hold; too closed and the XN‘s vacuum system can‘t pull through it.
